Driver Training NZ Ltd was established to provide a truck driving school in Tauranga that would teach people of all ages, abilities, and experiences to gain their truck licences as part of their professional development.

Our instructors follow in the tradition of a hands-on approach to teaching, from the initial theory classes through to practical driving lessons. Not everyone learns at the same rate or has the same experience, so our dedicated team of driving instructors teach students according to their ability and needs.

Class 2 truck licence

The class 2 truck license allows a driver to operate a vehicle up to 18,000kgs GV that has two axles.
This course requires a driver to have held a full New Zealand car licence for a minimum of 6 months.
The one-and-a-half day course includes logbook information, fatigue management, truck driving tuition and the driving test. When you complete the course you will have a full class 2 licence.
We have two models of truck for training purposes, both of which are fully serviced and industry standard.

Class 4 truck licence

A Class 4 truck licence will allow you to drive a multi-axle rigid vehicle over 18,000kgs.
This course requires a driver to have held their Class 2 licence for a minimum of 6 months if less than 25 years old or for at least 3 months if the driver is 25 or older.
The length of the course is dependent on when they sat their logbook module 24089.

Class 5 truck licence

The Class 5 truck licence allows the driver to drive a combination multi-axle vehicle 25,000kgs or over.
You, the driver, are required to have held your Class 4 licence for a minimum of 6 months if under 25 and 3 months if aged 25 or above.
The length of the course is dependent on when you sat your logbook module 24089.
